We suggest using a dishwashing detergent, baking soda or a stronger cleaning product. Another option is to leave it out in the sun until the odor disappears.
We advise you to clean the Bokashi bucket with a dishwashing detergent. If the odor is still present, you can try using a different cleaning product, for instance, a stain or mold remover. You can place the Bokashi composter on the bright sun and leave it there until the odor is not that distinctive anymore. Another solution would be to wash your bucket with baking soda. Sprinkle some baking soda all over the bucket, scrub it with a sponge, let it sit for half an hour and wash it with warm water.
The use of more aggressive cleaning products or prolonged exposure to sunlight can lead to faster aging of the material and damage, so do so only exceptionally.
Most likely, the source of the smell is inside the composter, which is closed during fermentation, so it does not stink on the outside in any case.
