Why do I have to cut organic waste into smaller pieces?

Cutting organic waste into smaller pieces will speed up the fermentation process and your fermented mass won't take up that much space in the bokashi bin.

  1. By cutting your waste into smaller pieces, you ensure better anaerobic conditions (i.e. squeezing the air out),
  2. Bigger surface to volume ratio speeds up the fermentation process. As microorganisms enter from outside, this makes smaller particles more easily accessible.
